BEFORE

AFTER

25 volunteers from Northlakes Salvos and Newcastle Salvos worked together to complete two painting projects in Wallsend, in association with Newcastle City Council. The enthusiasm of the volunteers was only matched by the speed of their paint brushes and rollers as they took to the projects with great urgency. The end result was a great outcome and an early mark! Thanks to the Council staff for all the behind the scenes arrangements and their support and supervision on the day. REDHEAD TENNIS COURTS – C3 Church Victory

“Last Saturday LMCC organised the Christian based City Serve volunteer organisation to do some works around the Club, they re -painted the BBQ area, all seating in the Club area and the net posts.. Also dug a trench along the outside park area,  the whole length of the courts so as we do not get outside sand on the court area which causes moulding, not to mention the continuous shoveling it took to put it  back into the park area. We thank them all for giving up their time and for the effort, I did not think they would get it all done.”

NOVA WOMEN’S REFUGE PROJECT – C3 Church Victory

“What a great day @cityserveau volunteering at Nova for women & children. There was a lot of great work done by some really awesome people. The highlight for me was to see a young girl staying at the refuge, get involved because she wanted to plant some veggies, then with the help of the volunteers we let her loose to do some artwork on the little planter box.” @urbanfoodgardensPete

“What a fantastic morning in our beautiful Arcadia Park!  Thanks! We really appreciated your Hillsong Church’s involvement this year. Everyone was so enthusiastic, friendly, and cheerful pitching in with the planting and more particularly the heavy wheel barrowing of heaps of mulch. We enjoyed meeting and talking with your members – all great company. Again many thanks to everyone and the very best wishes from the Landcare group.” BOB CLIFTON, LANDCARE  GROUP.

PCYC LAKE MACQUARIE – Lift Church

PCYC

“On Sunday 22/10/17 Lift Church participated in the annual “City Serve” initiative at PCYC Lake Macquarie. Project managed by Adam O’Connor, Paster Greg Allan and Kenneth Boyer and attended by 30 local members of the Community, the “Clean Up” and “Paint the Club” day was a huge success. Lift Church provided all materials including Mulch, Paint and painting equipment, seed and machinery/equipment required for gardening make over. Through hard work from all involved, all of the objectives were completed before the days end. This is a credit to Adam and his crew and has literally transformed the exterior and interior of the Club. As a Not-for-profit Youth Club in a challenging area, PCYC Lake Macquarie is an important community asset. Improvements that are made to encourage participation in its activities are essential for the long-term viability of the Club. I cant speak highly enough of Adam and the Lift Church crew for their efforts. Their commitment through service to the community is outstanding and I look forward to working with this passionate group of people in the future.”  Martin Eddy, PCYC Lake Macquarie

WARABROOK BUSHCARE PROJECT – Mayfield Baptist Church

“We had a great time!! Two youth groups in Mayfield worked together. We ended up having about 45 people turn up. The kids moved 4 truck loads of mulch in an hour. They helped to remove large sticks from around the reserve as well. There was heaps of chatting and laughter as they worked. We had a diverse range of people. Some young children, young people with disabilities, teens and adults. We all enjoyed a BBQ dinner afterwards.

What we learnt ……. needed heaps more resources. The kids were so keen and we really didn’t have enough work for them to do. We needed more mulch, wheel barrows, tools and gloves. We also started half an hour late so we ran out of daylight. We have learnt for next year ….

Thanks again Newcastle City Council for getting the mulch delivered in record time. I had a walk around the area the other day in the light and it looked great. Thanks again.”
