CityServe is coming to Lake Macquarie

The Cityserve influence is expanding through the Lake Macquarie region with 21 projects currently identified and new ones popping up weekly as momentum builds into October. Lake Macquarie council are moving towards a similar model to Newcastle, connecting us to community groups in need, scoping up the works for us and aiding with some of the materials needed to get the job done.

Newcastle CityServe projects announced for October 2014

Proposed-Projects-2014For 2014, the CityServe initiative has announced a full diary of volunteer service projects aimed at transforming Newcastle during the month of October.

This year’s projects, announced today, will improve areas right across the Newcastle local government area (LGA), with projects chosen in each ward of the city. Toronto Churches blesses their local community

40 volunteers from 3 local churches worked tirelessly on Oct 19 to complete an estimated 3 weeks worth of painting in one day! Lyall Peacock Oval is one of the premiere sporting facilities on the western side of Lake Macquarie being home to the Macquarie Scorpions and Toronto Awaba football clubs. It was built by volunteers (originally the late Lyall Peacock in the 1960’s) and is still maintained 100% by volunteers. On Sunday 13th Oct 300+ people from C3 Church Victory went out after shortened services in the morning and the evening to serve across projects in partnership with Lake Macquarie City Council, Newcastle City Council, Windale Ruby League Club, Reading Cinema, Nobby’s Surf Club, Charlestown East PS and Amaroo Lodge. Affectionately known as ‘The Bunker’ Newcastle SLSC is now a completed CityServe Project thanks to those that gave their time to make it happen.

Lambton public workers 2A huge thank you to everyone who helped out with the City Serve Working Bee on Sunday 20th October, at Lambton Public School. There were about 29 parents and children from: ANeW Anglican Church, C3 Church Victory NW and Wallsend Baptist Church. We worked together with 35 parents and children from the school.
