CityServe Launched!

Posted by:

The excitement is building with the successful launch on Thursday of CityServe 2013 at the Lord Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, by Newcastle Lord Mayor Cr Jeff McCloy.

CityServe 2013 will bring together churches from across the Hunter in an unprecedented serving initiative, with projects being planned in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens and Maitland.

Our new website has been launched cityserve.com.au and in the weeks ahead this will be updated to allow you to find out more details of how you can get involved in key projects, as well as promote CityServe in your Church. You will also be able to find out more about CityServe on Facebook and Twitter.

At the launch, details of the key Newcastle based project was announced, which will see churches join with Newcastle City Council in an ambitious plan to give the city’s six surf clubs a face lift.

Speaking at the launch, Cr McCloy said he was very grateful for the commitment of churches from across the Hunter to make a positive difference in the community through CityServe.

Meeting are being held with civic and parliamentary leaders across Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens and Maitland and within the next few weeks we will begin to share further details of key projects planned for these parts of the region.

Our goal is to have CityServe projects being undertaken across the Hunter, as Christians roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty; joining with others in the community who want to share in the CityServe vision. As we join hands with others in the community, CityServe also presents great missional opportunities, as many people ask the question: “Why are you involved in CityServe?”

It has been very encouraging to see the response from leaders across the region to CityServe and to the great work churches are already doing day in and day out as they serve people in Jesus name.  As well as our October serving focus, CityServe aims to elevate what the Church in our region is already doing and in this way build a more positive picture in the community of the Church in action; as we express our faith in a myriad of practical ways.

Let me encourage you to plan now to get involved in CityServe 2013.

We are hoping to have more than 2000 people from across Hunter churches share in this special serving opportunity in October. If you would like to find out more about you can get involved, if you have a question, or would like to invite one of our team to come and speak at your church then please email me at info@cityserve.com.au

Together we can make a real difference across the Hunter! Together we can transform our region through service!

Join us today and be part of the change!
