What does CityServe mean to me?

Posted by:

I love Newcastle.

Ever since I moved here at the age of two, Newcastle has and always will be my hometown. There’s something about the coffee, Darby Street, the culture and warmth about Newcastle that you don’t quite see anywhere else. The sun shines brighter here, the food tastes better here and the town is as lovely and friendly as the people that live in it.

We have Silverchair . We have The Knights. We have the NBN. We have all kinds of essential tropes that make Newcastle what it is. We are a proud city, with a beautiful culture and wonderful heritage. We have beautiful buildings, parks, schools and suburbs. We are beach people: laid back, warm, sun-kissed and relaxed. We have so many things to be proud of of this town that has given all of us so much.

CityServe is a way to give back to the local community that we are all a part of. If we want to make Newcastle even better, we have to get up and do it ourselves.

That’s why CityServe means so much to me. I want to give back to my community, to feel like I have contributed to weaving the fabric of this fantastic place. I want to look back, nostalgically in 10, 20 and 30 years time and say to myself that “I made a difference”. I contributed. I did something to give back to the town that has given me so much.

Thousands are rolling up their sleeves and getting down and dirty to revive and rejuvenate their local communities all across the Hunter. Why not give it a go?

Volunteer today at cityserve.com.au and like and follow our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds.Together, we can make a discernible and definite difference within out communities.
